Painting action in the shopfront window
of department store Karstadt
As our contribution to World Expo 2000, we offer you the chance to paint a large-size painting (1,90 x 3,20 metres = 6 x 11 feet) inside a storefront window of Karstadt department store in Minden's city centre. The theme is "Time of Change".
Neues Wandbild für Minden
- A new mural for Minden
(mob). Die Arbeit am Kampstraßen-Wandbild beginnt: Gestern informierte sich der Kulturausschuss der Stadt Minden vor Ort. Seit Monaten plant die heimische Agenda 21 - mit Eine-Welt- Promoter Stefan Straube-Neumann an der Spitze - die Beteiligung an der weltweiten Wandmalaktion. "Mural global 2000" (www.mural-global.urg) ist dem Gedanken der Nachhaltigkeit gewidmet - den zentralen Fragestellungen der Zeit.
In Minden wird die Gruppe um Straube-Neumann, darunter die Künstler Peter Küstermann, Charles Bebe und Kader Aggad, an zwei Orten malen. Gestern begann die Gestaltung der Fassade des Hauses Hagemeyer an der Kampstraße. Hier wird ein harmonisches Bild in warmen Farben entstehen. Plakativer wird es im September zugehen, auf der Wand am Zeentrallager - da wird eine große "21" mit Weltkugel an den Hintergrund der Aktion erinnern. Künstler aus aller Welt kommen zur Aktion Zeitenwende ins Kulturzentrum BÜZ und malen einen riesigen Briefmarkenbogen als kollektive Kollage.

Both actions will be documented in our color catalog, of which you receive a free copy next year.

THE NETMAIL POST OFFICE
This photo shows Angela & Peter Netmail at their art post office inside a department store at Mail Art Mekka Minden offering pocket size art with local reference, like the Minden Stamp. After the motto" Everything that the post forgot" it shows historic personalities of the city from Charlemagne to Kaiser Bill and Jo Klaffki on bis cloud as well as the 1200yrold cathedral, Culture Centre BÜZ, one of the oldest railways in the world, plus the biggest locks, where the canal crosses 14 metres high over the Weser river. The Minden artistamp is the definite bestseller among self-made mailart books, postcards, catalogues, rubberstamps, video and artistamps. Now finally these products from The Netmail Archive get marketed and sold also by the city itself through its Minden Marketing Ltd.
Belege einer sterbenden Kultur
Täglich neue Kunstpostkarten / Ausstellung

Minden (cko). Postkarte und Briefmarke sterben im Zeitalter der elektronischen Datenversendung langsam aus. Dass dadurch Kunst verloren geht, zeigt das Projekt 2000.
In einer Ausstellung im Mindener Karstadt-Restaurant werden über 400 Karten und Wertzeichen vorgestellt. Alle Exponate haben Künstler aus aller Welt im "Projekt 2000" gestaltet. In dieser Initiative wird täglich eine handgefertigte Postkarte gestaltet und versendet. Der Empfänger erhält ein einmaliges Zeugnis zeitgeschichtlicher Kunst. Bis zum 31. Dezember 2000 läuft die Aktion, dann ist das Jahrtausend offiziell vorbei.
Die letzten 2000 Tage des Milleniums haben somit jeweils eine eigene Postkarte mit Marke. "Sie tragen alle eine persönliche Handschrift", so Angela Pähler und Peter Küstermann vom Mindener Kulturverein "Wolkenstein".
Ihm geht es um zweierlei: Die Dokumentation gestalterischer Entwicklung über einen längeren Zeitraum und die Bedeutung der Postkarte für die Kunst. Mail Art hat in Minden eine große Bedeutung und eine lange Tradition. Deshalb findet die Ausstellung in der Weserstadt statt. Im Kunstpostamt können die Ausstellungsbesucher ein Zeitdokument in Postkartenformat erwerben.
2000 artists postcards in 2000 days, one by one handmade in a rich variety of themes and
techniques by angela and Peter Netmail and mailed out during the last 2000 days of this millenium
equals a unique project of mail as art in the long tradition of artists postcards which started
soon after the invention of the "correspondence card" over 100 years ago. This includes
lots of networking events and homages to other mail artists. The collection was shown for the
first time in Holland as an "exhibition in progress" with a new add-to daily. The
Netmails are looking for more exhibition sites. Please let them know if you are interested
in showing this singular collection.
